Flowercloud led Cinderpaw through the Moonstones, until they came to a large square hole called Mothermouth. It was dark and cold, but she knew that when she got to the opening it would be lighter and the air would be fresher. She stopped and waited for the other medicine cats to arrive, so she and her apprentice could advance into the tunnel.

Cinderpaw waited with her mentor for the other clan's medicine cats to show up, looking forward to sharing tongues with Starclan, and wondering what they might share with her. She scraped her claws impatiently on the rough, cold stone.

"Looks like the other cats aren't coming." She lashed her tail and began walking through the dark tunnel. Her whiskers brushed the walls and her legs were stiff. she was no more than 7 seasons old but the stress of loosing an apprentice to her foolish idea of love and her leader's sudden solidarity, was aging her. Not to mention the mysterious illness that was sweeping the forest. She surpressed a silent sigh and walked on, searching for the eery glow of the moonstone.

Cinderpaw padded after Flowercloud, sensing something was bothering her. She still hadn't maneged to fond out how to tell her what was going on, but was getting scared, and she wanted her advice. Sighing almost silently, Cinderpaw walked onward.

A bright light met Flowercloud's eyes as she stepped into the cave where she would be spending the night. She ignored Cinderpaw's stress and flew to the moonstone, laying her nose on it she drifted into a deep sleep. The autumn breeze ruffled her glossy fur as she padded amoung the monsterous roots of the great oak. she settled down in a patch of sunlight and gazed around her at the many colored leaves and the slightly browning grass. She twisted around as a twig snapped. She was face to face with an old Clan medicine cat, Mothflight. Her white pelt dappled with stars. Flowercloud dippped her head to the medicine cat, while Mothflight bowed in return. "Hello, I am Mothflight." "Yes, you are." Flowercloud mewed. "I've heard all about you." Before she could continue, Mothflight flicked her muzzel with her tail. "This isn't about me, it's about you." "Me?" Mothflight's sweet voice turned into a strong meow. "You have much ahead of you, but most of it you will not see." Flowercloud was puzzled. "what do you mean?" She shook her head. Flowercloud felt as if she had been hit by a twoleg monster, but she just nodded and closed her eyes.

Cinderpaw watched Flowercloud rush forward to greet Starclan, while she followed more slowly. She pressed her nose against the hard surface and felt the cold wash over her. Cinderpaw opened her eyes and sat up, expecting to see a Starclan warrior. But instead, she was met with total darkness. Through the gloom, she could see the gleam of eyes, and felt the presence of a cat cat, though she couldn't tell who. "Who are you?" She called aloud, she could feel her voice trembling, and tried to steady it, but couldn't help but squeak as a voice sounded right next to her, close enough to stir the sensitive fur on her ear. "Peace, young one, we mean you no harm." Cinderpaw thought she recognized the voice, but couldn't quite place it. "Something is coming. You will face difficulties no cat has before you. Starclan cannot prevent it, no one but you can stop it.," the voice was growing hoarser now, starting to sound despearte, and Cinderpaw couldn't understand why. "Listen carefully, we haven't much time, you must..." The voice stopped as a sudden gust of cold wind swirled through the trees and forced the clouds back. The sudden light was dazzling, and for a moment Cinderpaw let herself be transfixed by the glory of star shine. She looked around for the cat who had spoken, but the clearing she was standing in was empty, the Starclan cat was gone. Cinderpaw looked around wildly, why had the cat left? She wondered. And, more importantly, what was he going to say to me? She closed her eyes to think, and when she opened them, she was blinking awake beside the Moonstone, with Flowercloud sitting next to her, looking at Cinderpaw thoughtfully.

My heart lurched as Cinderpaw woke up. I turned around and began to walk out of the cave. But before i could enter into the darkness Cinderpaw spoke up.
( I wanted some dialog.)

Cinderpaw saw Flowercloud's face change as she woke up. Cinderpaw knew she wasn't supposed to speak, but something in Flowercloud's face just made her speak. "Flowercloud, wait!" Cinderpaw called quietly. Flowercloud halted for a moment, turned, and flipped her tail across the end of Cinderpaw's muzzle, a sign for silence. Cinderpaw obediently remained silent until they had emerged from Mothermouth, but once the starlight fell down on them once more, Cinderpaw faced Flowercloud and said, "I need to talk to you."

Cinderpaw had anticipated telling Flowercloud what was going on since the first dream, but now, staring into her mentor's strict face, Cinderpaw was stuck by sudden reluctance. "Well, I uh," Cinderpaw stuttered, not sure how to start. Starclan give me the right words, she thought. Suddenly Cinderpaw realized that what had been happening had been through no fault of her own, and Flowercloud couldn't raionally be angry at her. Cinderpaw sat up straight and mewed, quite clearly, "I have been having these dreams, where I'm in the forest, but I feel like I'm being stalked, so I start running, but I can feeling it coming after me, every time right before it catches me, I wake up, only I'm not in my nest. Each time I wake up, I'm a little bit closer to the river, and out of breath, like I was running in the real world and not just in my dreams." Cinderpaw looked anxiously at Flowercloud to see how her mentor was taking this, but Flowercloud didn't seem to be paying attention, and when Cinderpaw spoke her name, Flowercloud jumped, as though she had forgotten her apprentice was there.

Cinderpaw stared at her mentor in dismay. perhaps this wasn't the right to tell Flowercloud after all. "Never mind," Cinderpaw mewed. "Let's go home."

"Don't worry Cinderpaw. I was listening." she mewed gently, noticing the apprentice's look of dismay. "Tell me as much as you can remember about these odd dreams."

"I already have," Cinderpaw mewed. "I just know I'm in the forest. Most of the time I'm hunting. But I feel something watching me. When I start to run, I can hear really large footsteps. Then I wake up. It's happened three times. The last time, I woke up right on the edge of the river. One more pawstep and I would have fallen in." Cinderpaw looked at Flowercloud to see how she was taking this, but her mentor's expression was unreadable.

Flowercloud pondered on the idea of a living dream, but decided to trust Starclan to show her why her apprentice was having these ... unusual dreams. "Let's get back to camp, the Clan will be worrying."
