Brightstar Yowled the familiar meeting call and sat down on the moonlit boulder. The drowsy cats made their way out of the dens, they grumbled and weakly hissed at the cat who woke them up in the middle of the night. "You all know that our medicine cat apprentice has reached the age and wisdom at which she can now be a medicine cat. Flowercloud has asked me to give her her Medicine Cat name." She looked down at the grey cat, trying to detect emotion, but there was a shocked stare where the excitement should have been. But, she went on. "Cinderpaw, you have prooven yourself capable of treating your clan-mates," she reflected on the shadowClan cat. "and other cats. Cinderpaw, from now on you will be known as Cinderthorn. The Clan trusts you with it's life. Don't disappoint us." She looked down at Cinderthorn with a knowing stare, lept off, and headed to her den to get some well earned rest.

Cinderthorn stayed where she was, her paws frozen in place with shock; she had never seen this coming. Slowly and drowsily, the clan chanted her name for a few heartbeats before retreating to their dens. Cinderthorn shook her head and padded back into the medicine den. Once again, memories of her dream where haunting her thoughts and dulling the pride she should be feeling right now. Even worse was that Flowercloud seemed to have no idea what to do about all this, or if she did she was doing a good job of hiding it. Although she was mature, Cinderthorn was still only a medicine apprentice, not nearly ready to deal with this on her own, and if Flowercloud, who was wise beyond her age, was confused by this, Cinderthorn didn't know what she do. A few moments after the newly named she-cat settled in her nest for a quick nap before morning came, Cinderthorn heard soft pawsteps, and looked up to see her mentor padding throught he fern tunnel. Utterly exhausted and not willing to talk, Cinderthorn turned her head and feigned sleep.

Eaglefrost padded into the medicine den, looking for Cinderthorn. the Warrior's den was filled with the sounds of snoring cats and Eaglefrost couldn't get to sleep. He saw her, sound asleep in the corner of the den, shivering from the oddly cold night. He looked at her. She looked peaceful and he didn't want to wake her, so he curled up beside her, feeling the warmth of her body against his. He was glad she was his friend.

Cinderthorn was too deeply submerged in her dream to notice the sudden warmth against her pelt. She was padding on a forest trail in the beginning of Newleaf, the river raced swiftly passed her, fed by the melting snows. But suddenly, a great roaring silenced the muffled scuffles of prey and the whispering river, and a small monster burst into sight. But this was like no monster Cinderthorn had ever seen. It was much smaller than the ones on the Thunderpath, and it had no top. Just four large paws and the underbelly. A single twoleg was sitting on top of it, yowling loudly. Then something strange happened. The twoleg leaned back and the half-monster reared onto its hind paws. From her position on the forest floor, Cinderthorn saw what the twoleg and monster could not: a large boulder was right in the half-moster's trail. She tried to called out a warning, but the twoleg was deaf to her cries and she could only watch as the monster hit the rock and stumbled; the twoleg on top began yowling horribly as the monster flipped backwards and landed squarely in the river. Waves sloshed onto the shore, lapping at Cinderthorn's paws as she watched, waiting for the twoleg to resurface. It never did. A trail of bubbles was all that was left. And then those, too, faded. Cinderthorn stepped forward into the shallows of the river, searching for the twoleg. All she saw was a dark shape at the bottom of the river, rolling gently with the currents. The cold of the river was unbearable, and Cinderthorn fought to wake up. But even after she did, she could still feel the horrible cold. Looking down, Cinderthorn saw she was standing on the middle of the lake, saved from plunging into it only by the thin layer of ice. But even as Cinderthorn stood frozen, the ice gave a dreadful moan, and a thin crack appeared, racing along the long the river. More cracks branched out, moving swiftly, breaking the ice into chunks. Cinderthorn turned and fled, the ice cracking behind her. She could feel the water on her hind legs. It seemed to take forever to reach the bank, but she finally did. Collapsing on the shore, Cinderthorn looked up; Starclan was clear above her. "What's happening to me?" She muttered. Then an overwhelming tiredness hit her, and she fell into a deep, undisturbed sleep.
*In case you couldn't tell, the half-monster thing was supposed to be an ATV, I couldn't think of how to describe it*

Eaglefrost awoke in he morning and padded to the fresh kill pile, stretched out his legs and grabbed a plump mouse, still warm from the morning patrol's quick hunt. he gulped it down in a few swift bites. The previous night, he decided that Cinderthorn didn't need him. So, he should throw his love behind her. Very sudden, yes, but he had to. His decision wasn't as hard as he thought, and besides, she didn't love him. Scarlettclaw had been eating with him and talking to him for the past moon. He had not paid much attention to her before, but once is mind was clear of Cinderthorn, he saw that she was quite beautiful. He was now sure that as little contact with Cinderthorn as possible was best for the both of them, after all, he was getting blown off a lot lately.
Eaglefrost padded through the forest, his paws being pricked by the the immature thorns that were on the ground. Finally he made it to the RiverClan - ThunderClan border. The river roared loud and the fish leapt out of it. It was rather pretty, and now that he had decided it would be best not to concern himself with Cinderthorn again, it looked even more beautiful. So, he settled down on a rock and drifted into a soft sleep.

Cinderthorn woke suddenly. She jumped to her paws, unable, for a moment, to recall why she had fallen asleep by the river. Then her dream came back to her, the horror of watching the twoleg and half-monster plunge into the river. She wanted to get back to camp and tell Flowercloud what had happened. Perhaps her dreams were a warning of something to come. Only time would tell, CInderthorn realized, as she padded along. She was so submerged in her own thoughts that she barely looked up in time to stop herself from walking on to the curled up bundle of fur by the bank. Cinderthorn started to call out a warning, then recognized Eaglefrost. Cinderthorn walked up to him and prodded his side with a sheathed claw. "What are you doing here Eaglefrost?" He jumped up and spun around to face her.

Cinderthorn wondered if she should tell him. She decided not to. "I was just, uh, out, doing medicine cat stuff. Don't you have a nest you could be sleeping in, or warrior duties?"

"Yeah, evening patrol. I figured I'd take a walk with Scarlettclaw before I have to head out. Why do you care anyways?" He mewed coldly.

Cinderthorn felt her anger begin to rise; Eaglefrost had no reason to jump down her throat. "I care because a young warrior like you could be doing something useful instead of sleeping around or taking little romantic walks!" She could tell Eaglefrost was getting mad too.

His fur stood on end; she didn't need to be so impossible.
"I can take a nap if I please! I don't have anything else I have to do. I just finished a hunting patrol and the evening patrol won't take place for another couple hours." He hissed. "And I can take walks with Scarlettclaw anytime. You're a medicine cat apprentice, not the leader! So if you don't mind I'm going to get Scarlettclaw. Take it up with Brightstar if you don't like it!"
He stalked off towards camp, his fur standing on end and his head clouded with rage.

Cinderthorn watched him walked away, fighting down the urge to call out a rude remark. She forced the fur to lie flat on her spine and padded in the opposite direction, letting her churning emotions settle. She walked along the river's edge, gazing into the rushing water without really seeing it. Suddenly, she noticed something at the bottom of the clear waters, a dark shape tossed in the current. Staring down, she made out the bright green coloring of the twoleg half-monster she had seen in her dream. Peering closer, she noticed another, smaller shape, and gasped in horror; a twoleg was down there, trapped. It was pinned under the fallen monster, struggling vainly to escape. Cinderthorn splashed into the water, thinking only of her medicine training. She blinked water out of her eyes beforesubmerging completel. Then she stopped and looked around, confused. The twoleg and halfmonster had gone.

Soon, Eaglefrost made his way to the main ThunderClan camp. His paws were trembling from anger and frustration when a tail was laid across his shoulders. He turned to his left to see Scarlettclaw padded beside him. "Scarlettclaw!" Eaglefrost purred. "And you're Eaglefrost." A purr rumbled deep in her throat. "Now that we have that established, do you want to go on a walk?" "Sure." "Well, I was thinking that we could walk by the RiverClan border. What do you think?" Eaglefrost thought about Cinderthorn, her fur bristling, and decided it wouldn't be such a good idea. "Uh, maybe we should go a different way today." A puzzled expression played across her pretty face but she only shrugged and nodded before padded out of the thorn tunnel and out of sight. Eaglefrost followed after her, trying to catch up with her. After all, they were supposed to stay together. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Scarlettclaw padded beside Eaglefrost as they circles trees in silence. After a few moments she got bored. "Eaglefrost, are you upset? I mean, you always blab when we take our walks." Eaglefrost looked embarrassed so she went on. "I need you to talk!" Eaglefrost shifted his gaze from the dirt to her face and shrugged. "Sorry. I guess I'm kinda mad. But, don't worry, it has nothing to do with you." Scarlettclaw had no idea how that would make her feel better. "Well, then why are you mad?" But before she could hear his response a low growl sounded from behind a gorse bush and within seconds a dark shape crashed out. He was the biggest creature she had ever seen. His claws were sharp and his teeth were large and his mouth foamed as he barked. She knew it was a dog, but it was monstrous! He was pure black and looked like death itself. He was muscular and of decent weight but he looked hungry. Very hungry. Before she knew it Eaglefrost let out a screech and leapt on top of him. Scarlettclaw stood in shock. Eaglefrost was big compared to other cats, but tiny compared to this beast. So, she flung herself at the dog and gripped onto the thick black fur on its back, her unsheathed claws digging into its flesh. Once it felt the two cats on its back it began snapping at them, his large teeth but inches from Eaglefrost who as gnawing on its leg. With one jump, the dog managed to dislodge Scarlttclaw's hind claws from its back and she flipped forward, her claws stuck in it flesh. She as hanging directly under his head now and with little effort he could snap her neck and kill her. For a moment she thought of what it would be like to die, but as she was about to surrender, she saw Eaglefrost jump up and sink his teeth into the dogs neck. He yelped and fell back, knocking Scarlettclaw against a rock and everything went black. (She's unconscious....and the dog is going to die. She had wounds on her left hind leg - large cut, and her ear had been cut a little at the tip )

Cinderthorn climbed out of the water and shook her head to clear the water from the ears. She couldn't understand what had just happened. Perhaps it was a sign from StarClan? Before she could dwell on it though, she heard something. Faint, but she was sure it was a cat yowling. Fur bristling, Cinderthorn hurtled through the trees, dodging around undergrowth. It was definitely a cat yowling, and something else too. Dog? Suddenly the noise stopped. Cinderthorn scented the air; Scarletclaw and Eaglefrost had been this way recently. She followed the trail and emerged into a semi-clearing. She stopped dead, her blood cold. Eaglefrost was limping away from the dead body of a massive dog, claws and teeth bloody, but Scarletclaw was lying ominously still a few fox-lengths away. Cinderthorn rushed up to her, and was relieved to see the faint rise and fall of the black and white warrior's chest.Breath rasped in her ear, "Is she okay?" Cinderthorn forced away a pang of jealousy hearing Eaglefrost's concern for the pretty she-cat, and forced her voice to be brisk. "I'm not sure, we must get her back to camp so I can treat her. First we need to stop the bleeding. Can you find me some cobwebs?"

Before Eaglefrost could force out words he dashed into the undergrowth towards the pile of rocks near the twolegplace. There, he found a black widow's web and made sure she was gone before he gathered up all of the cobwebs, gripped them in his jaws before streaking back to Cinderthorn, the anxiety building up inside of him with every step. "Here," He handed the cobwebs to Cinderthorn. "now what can I do?"
